Toshu
Fukami Library
The University of Cambodia has renamed its library the Toshu Fukami
Library, in recognition of H.E. Dr. Toshu Fukami’s contributions to both
the University of Cambodia and the nation. A special ceremony was held
on April 30, 2004 at 3:30 p.m. outside the Toshu Fukami Library at the
University of Cambodia, #145 Preah Norodom Blvd. The ceremony took
place during a break from the First Annual National Conference on
“Cambodia’s Higher Education Today: Enhancing Quality and Building
Partnerships”.
Dr. Toshu Fukami has been
Chancellor at the University of Cambodia since June of 2003. He is
well-known as both a successful entrepreneur and a dedicated
philanthropist.Thus, Dr. Fukami helped to establish a 24-hour emergency
hospital in Cambodia. He is leader of the World Mate Organization, as
well as the founder and President of the International Foundation of
Arts and Culture. His philanthropic work in Cambodia earned Dr. Fukami
an honorary decoration by His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk.
Dr. Fukami is CEO of B.C. Consulting and
operates several overseas companies. Dr. Fukami is also an artist and
an advocate for the Arts, and is a professor and guest lecturer at
numerous universities.
The Toshu Fukami Library is
considered to be one of the best libraries in Cambodia, with a
collection of over 50,000 books, periodicals, magazines, and newspapers.
The library is open to students, faculty, and the general public from
7:00 a.m to 8:00 p.m., seven days a week (except holidays). The Toshu
Fukami Library is a great place for reading, conducting research, and
doing homework.
